Creating a single platform for applying and managing grants
The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) delivers several £billion p.a. in general grant funding to a wide range of organisations, including local authorities, housing associations and community groups.

The challenge
MHCLG's 100+ funds had typically been designed and built independently of one another. This was extremely costly and delivered a poor, inconsistent experience for both internal and external users.
The response
We helped the department establish an internal funding service to radically simplify the way it delivers the 100+ grants to councils and communities
Leveraging common design patterns across the funding lifecycle led to the creation of a set of re-usable, scalable tools for application, assessment, collection and storing stages of funding lifecycle
The outcome

The common platform helped standardise delivery across complex funds, with potential savings estimated at £500,000 per fund

Overall annual savings of £13 million (estimated) for the department through reduced fund delivery costs
